Just as we Shape Flex to strengthen our communication effectiveness, especially in challenging situations on a daily basis, we also flex naturally throughout life, somewhat matching the typical life stages. As we mature and our bodies and minds age, we begin to see life differently. As we grow older, the things that once seemed so important may no longer seem so vital. Another way of describing this change in perspective is Shape Evolution.
Shape Evolution can be defined as the various phases you experience throughout your life and how your Shape evolves as a result.
Here's what you need to know about the Evolved Triangle:

Particularly in the later years, many Triangles relax and learn to enjoy life more fully. It is often not until this period that the strong Triangle is able to sit back and enjoy the adoration of others. The younger “driver” allows someone else to take the wheel. They become more interested in people and learn to trust others.
As a Triangle spouse, the Circle emerges and enjoyment of the family peaks. Unfortunately, in some cases, the children are now grown, and the grandchildren often reap the benefit of the Triangle’s evolution. Since the Triangle is the prime candidate for mid-life crisis, this shift may be dramatic. The focus on career changes to a search for inner peace and loving companions. This is a time of dangerous pressure on a marriage.
As a parent, some Triangles first become acquainted with their children in mid-life. If the Circle surfaces strong, the Triangle can do an “about face,” becoming uncharacteristically generous and truly loving in a way that meets the needs of others. The evolved Triangle finds joy in mere conversation and is capable of making peace with themselves.
As a boss, the Triangle can soften its leadership style in later career stages. Prone to demonstrate the “generative period” through mentoring, the Triangle will show a proclivity toward favoritism. Some Triangles become excellent leaders in their late 50s, 60s, 70s, and even 80s. Their leadership style shifts from a self-centered, ambitious autocracy to a more democratic and paternal style. (It is impossible for a Triangle to ever be a laissez-faire leader)! Scarred from many wars, the Triangle is less likely to compete and confront; they are not so determined to win the battle. More willing to delegate, to listen, and to be open to the ideas of others, the Triangle becomes a more effective leader. Status becomes less important (often because the Triangle already has it). This is an excellent time for the evolved Triangle to engage in civic and social service.
For some, the political arena is a natural progression. The mellowed, wiser Triangle is an excellent candidate for political office because their natural leadership skills can now be used for the right reasons and not for self-aggrandizement. Overall, the evolved Triangle is a desirable leader who is capable of making major contributions to society.
