Three Common Misconceptions about PsychoGeometrics

Wednesday, January 22, 2025

1. "People are just one Shape."

Actually, who you are, what you do, how you interact and communicate is mostly a blend of two Shapes, your primary Shape and your secondary Shape. However, you are born with all five Shapes within your brain, and you can be or use any one of the Shapes, or variations of the Shapes, consciously or unconsciously.

The ability, whether natural or learned, to use all five Shapes is called Shape Flexing. This means we can access any of the five Shapes at any time. This ability is the foundation for the Art of Communicating.

2. "People are the same Shape all their lives."

Just as we Shape Flex to adjust to people in various situations on a daily basis, we also flex naturally throughout life. As our bodies and minds age, and we mature, we begin to see life differently through the lens of the Rectangle, which is the Shape of Change and Growth. As we grow older, the things that once seemed so important, no longer seem vital. Another way of describing this change in perspective is Shape Evolution. There are some predictable Rectangular phases, also known as life stages, that occur for many people. These have been identified in recent years by sociologists and psychologists. During these life stages people often find a different Shape emerging within them to adapt to that phase of their lives. Most people evolve and move from Shape to Shape given life’s circumstances. The Rectangle is the gateway to this evolution.

3. "Some Shapes are better than others."

All Shapes are equally important, but not necessarily used equally. While it can be argued that the use of one Shape over another is better in a specific situation, this cannot be said as a blanket statement. Each Shape has value and contributes to effective communication. Furthermore, each person is different and has their own "Shape DNA" making every interaction personal. Human behavior is not an exact science, which is why PsychoGeometrics, the science of behavior and the art of communication, is such a powerful tool.
